Job Description

The Accountant will play a key role as part of the Accounting Team responsible for the preparation of North American financial statements (US GAAP) on a monthly basis. The position will require collaboration with multiple departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Some of the tasks include: reviewing general ledger accounts, posting journal entries, as well as assisting with the year-end audit and special projects as required.

How you will make an impact

• Actively participate in the month-end closing process, including the posting of journal entries
• Integrate payroll activity into our accounting system, perform payroll reconciliation and post payroll related accruals
• Post intercompany charges and reconcile intercompany accounts at month-end
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for companies in the consolidated group
• Assist with the following tax filings:

Monthly GST/QST filing

Monthly US Sales tax filings

US property tax filings- annual basis

Annual 1099 filings

Provide information to payroll department regarding annual T4A filings

• Accounting and other related tasks for holding company (including preparation and booking of monthly invoices, balance sheet reconciliations, GST/QST filing, preparation of operating cost schedule)
• Assist with the release of electronic payments to vendors & suppliers (ex. ACH and EDI)
• Prepare various ad hoc analysis and reports
• Complete various interim and year-end audit analysis and required reports
• Participate in continuous improvement projects to boost productivity and improve reporting

We’re looking for someone with

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Pursuing a CPA designation (asset)
• At least 3 years relevant work experience (asset)
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of Oracle or other account software (asset)
