Job description

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Accounting Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing our company's accounting functions, including financial reporting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable. You can manage hands on accounting duties, and you excel at leading and mentoring team members with the ability to organize and delegate work effectively. You are self-motivated, proactive, and pride yourself on being a critical thinker who can develop recommendations that will benefit the business.

Experience with inventory management and project costing is preferred. Industry experience in construction, wholesale and retail goods, and/or manufacturing is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department.
  • Manage and develop the accounts payable and receivable processes.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Develop, and improve financial reporting processes and systems to keep up with the growth.
  • Provide cash management and monitor cash flow.
  • Prepare payroll for staff of 30 employees and ensure compliance with BC labour standards.
  • Administer the company benefits plan.
  • Prepare remittances of all regulatory filings.
  • Lead, develop and mentor your growing accounting team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve business processes.
  • Oversite of leases, insurance, and banking needs of the business.
  • Manage the year end process and coordinate with the CPA Firm for corporate tax filings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting and supervisory experience in a sales and project-based environment.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop Pro preferred.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Compensation:

  • Salary $70,000 per annum depending on experience, plus benefits.
  • Full Time 40 hours per week
