Accounting Supervisor - Retail Operations

Our downtown Vancouver real estate client is seeking a Accounting Supervisor - Retail Operations to join the team.

Salary ranging from $100,000 - $115,000 + Discretionary Bonus
Downtown Vancouver, 100% In-Office

Working with the Operations Accountant, overseeing the preparation of monthly financial statements and year end audits, managing cash flow requirements and projections and upgrading systems and controls.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Operations Accounting
o Review monthly financial statement package, including all supporting documentation for submission to owners prepared by Operations Accountant
o Work with various teams, assisting in development of business plans, budgets and forecasts
o Manage cash flow requirements, projecting monthly cash balances and funding requirements
o Coordinate with owners, tax and finance teams to incorporate new entities, when required
o Recommend and implement system improvements for both established and newly formed operations
o Work with Operations team to support the retail, wholesale, and web sales.
o Plan and implement front end operating systems, web based system, ensuring integration with backend accounting systems

  • Supervision and Other
o Oversee work performed by Operations Accountant staff in preparing monthly reporting packages
o Work closely with operations team and property managers to maintain an accurate, efficient accounting presentation of the operational activities
o Report to Ownership with financial results and recommendations for improvements
o Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, legal representation, lending institutions, insurance brokers and others, as required
o Administrative duties including photocopying, filing, preparing, organizing, and maintaining accounting/contract records

Qualifications:
  • Experience in retail sales accounting
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills as well as proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to adapt to multiple demands, set priorities and achieve results on a timely basis
  • Analytical thinker and ability to readily grasp new concepts and adapt to a fast paced, ever-changing environment
  • Experience using an ERP system, Xero or Sage 50 is a plus
  • Ability to assess operating and accounting systems and controls, providing recommendations for procedural design and implementation
