Reporting to the Manager of the Public Health Laboratory, the Administrative Assistant IV is a key member of the laboratory team. Working with a high level of independence, this position utilizes extensive knowledge and skills to perform a wide range of specialized administrative activities for both medical-scientific and operations management professional team members. The individual requires superior communication (written and verbal) skills, attention to detail; applies tact, diplomacy and discretion in all situations. Some position highlights include: Providing competent and knowledgeable, advanced level professional administrative/secretarial support. Managing, coordinating and prioritizing the schedule(s) of the team. Managing inquiries, email and coordinating complex calendars. This position liaises with both internal and external healthcare clients dealing with both routine and complex enquiries and escalates client concerns promptly. Some of the clerical expectations of this position involves scheduling meetings, handling laboratory mail, faxes and packages and typing correspondence. The Administrative Assistant IV will also help coordinate travel, assist with Public Health programs and projects and provide cross-site coverage for absences, vacations and vacancies. As an Administrative Support IV, you will performed advanced administrative or specialized tasks to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program, and will perform other duties as required.

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. course(s) in office of business administration, medical office assistant).
Additional Required Qualifications:As Required.
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 3 years’ experience in Secretarial/Administrative role in a Laboratory or Healthcare setting. Advanced knowledge / coursework of Microsoft Office Application, Timekeeping, schedule and time entry into ePeople payroll system.
