Job Description

Position: Welder Service Technician

Location: Edmonton

Kristian Electric is looking for a Welder Service Technician/Apprentice Electrician to join our Edmonton branch. As a Welder Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating welders and welder equipment. The successful candidate will be:

Role Summary: A Welder Service Technician servicing and repairing welders in our shop and at customer job sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance of welders and equipment
  • Troubleshooting equipment to diagnose deficiencies and determine repairs required
  • Repairing or replacing defective parts
  • Cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, and performing other maintenance work on welders and equipment
  • Using vendor resources, equipment manuals, and other resources to problem-solve and diagnose repairs

Educational Requirements:

* Apprentice Electrician

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with electronics
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience trouble shooting and repairing welding machines and equipment preferred
  • Experience repairing Miller, Lincoln, Hobart, ESAB, and Hypertherm products
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

Experience and Qualifications Required:

  • Ability to work varied hours, overtime and on call if needed
  • Must have valid driver’s license and a driver’s abstract, evidencing a clean driving record and a non-graduated driver’s license.
  • Must be safety oriented
  • Experience operating forklifts with valid forklift certification

  • Ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues
  • Reliable, organized, and attentive to details when working on and servicing welder machines and equipment
  • Exceptional customer service experience
  • Ability to function as part of a team and to request and accept direction as required
  • Make sure diagnosis and services are accurate for customers, and the safety and integrity of the business, as well as building regulation compliance
  • Dedication to safety and willingness to fully participate in the Kristian Health & Safety Program

  • Ability to be accountable with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Hours of operation are 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Some overtime may be required.
