Fox LLP is looking for a lawyer to join our team in either Calgary, AB or Winnipeg, MB.
Fox LLP is a law firm that works exclusively for First Nations governments and entities throughout Canada. We proudly represent prominent and innovative First Nations and First Nations organizations in advancing their interests. We work as general counsel, as well as for specific matters related to treaty rights and advocacy, corporate governance, specific claims, and governance.
We are seeking candidates who are interested in assisting First Nations with meeting their goals of self-determination and advocating for a more equitable future. Cultural competency is a very important attribute for lawyers at Fox LLP and we are looking for a candidate that has lived experience or can demonstrate competency in working with First Nations clients. We highly encourage First Nations candidates to apply for this position.
The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience. We will consider candidates with additional years of experience and commensurate compensation is negotiable. Experience in constitutional law, human rights, employment law, specific claims, regulatory law or civil litigation are assets.
Candidates must be able to communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and verbally and be able to research and distill complex legal matters. Candidates should also have excellent teamwork skills. Candidates must be able to travel within Canada, including to remote locations, as required and with advance notice.
We provide competitive compensation in a flexible and collegial environment. We also offer on-reserve office space near Calgary.
We are looking for a candidate who can start as soon as possible, but the start date is flexible.
