Job Description
Canadian Approval Center is currently looking for a Financial Controller due to an upcoming retirement. As Northwestern Ontario’s largest Ford Dealership, located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, this position is responsible to monitor the financial health of the operation.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the senior management team and participate actively in both the financial and operational functions of the dealership.
Working closely with the Dealer Principal, the Controller will be responsible for directing and managing the dealerships accounting functions, including establishing practices and procedures as well as the preparation of financial statements, and providing reporting to management. The Controller also maintains the company’s accounting systems and implements changes as required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the day to day operations of the Accounting Dept
- Responsible for the overall financial reporting, planning, budgeting, and accounting practices
- Provide superior customer service to all operating departments within the dealership (including Sales, Parts and Service)
- Create, maintain and monitor internal controls
- Oversee or perform tasks to ensure the financial functions are reconciled monthly including but not limited to: cash, accounts receivables, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts payables, manufacturer statements, payroll administration, vehicle deal commissioning, intercompany accounts, benefit administration etc.
- Produce accurate monthly financial statements
- Collaborate with vendors and department managers to implement cost saving and process improvement initiatives
- Provide financial analysis and input to Senior Management for forecasting purposes
- Coordinate the provision of information to Auditors, for Annual; reviews
- Ensure compliance to Provincial & Federal Government reporting requirements & tax filings
- Contribute to planning, forecasting trends, reviewing and revising plans
- Responsible for set up and maintenance of software
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred
- Skilled in the analysis and creation of business financial statements
- Solid analytical, technical, and mathematical abilities
- Accounting Designation C.P.A. is required
- Thorough knowledge of financial and accounting practices and procedures
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal, provincial and local regulations and laws pertaining to the automotive industry
- Strong oral and written communication skills

Salary: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
