What if I told you that Manulife, a financial company, has a supportive work environment with flexible hours? What if I told you we're working towards modern tools and processes including Agile, SAFe, Design thinking, Human Centered Design and tools like Jira, MS Visio and Confluence? What if I told you we are keen to innovate, and we’re growing?

It's banking, the way it should be!

At Manulife Bank, we believe banking products are an integral part of every Canadian's financial plan. As one of Canada's youngest banks, we are growing at an unprecedented rate and need people with the skills, energy, and drive to maintain our leadership position as an "Advisor's bank."

What will I be doing?

You will join forces with other smart people (like Product Owners, Business experts and Developers) to analyze a Business need, explore and identify the best technology solution, and help to make that solution a reality...all before a deadline. Then you start on the next challenge and do it again! If you thrive on this type of work - then we need your people-smarts and keen mind as a Business Analyst on our Business Services and Development Team.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Using your analytical skills and critical thinking to ask questions, understand our Business drivers and needs, and bring order and precision to scope and requirements.

  • Participate in small, self-managed agile teams involving members with different expertise and specialization.

  • Uncovering, analyzing, and facilitating the definition of solution requirements.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and timelines while keeping the customer in focus

  • Using a variety of requirements modelling techniques - such as customer journey mapping, user stories, process mapping, acceptance criteria, decision tables and business rules – to convey information.

  • Delivering documented solution requirements so that everyone has a clear and consistent understanding of the proposed solution.

  • Using your strong communication skills to lead meetings and present information to all levels of the company.

  • Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning, backlog refinement, system demos and other SAFe ceremonies to push continuous improvement and productivity by following the team's accomplishments, identifying roadblocks and backlog prioritization.

  • Collaborate with the Product team to build a product roadmap of new features and enhancements that align with the overall company vision, product strategy, client commitments and release goals.

  • Using your problem-solving skills and sound judgement to make business decisions that drive results and solve customer problems.

  • Analyze current business processes, facilitate requirements gathering sessions, and work closely with Business and IS partners to evaluate and recommend alternatives to solutions

  • Participate in components of small to medium size initiatives while meeting scope, time, and quality targets

  • Partners with Bank Business Areas and technology partners to discuss testing approaches, write test strategies as well as act as a liaison

  • Track and log system defect issues

  • Provides back up support to other Squad members and the team

  • Identifies efficiencies within the team with a continual focus on process improvement

  • As required, participates in production releases for validating / connectivity testing, or helps coordinate the business testing effort; may require some weekend / afterhours support on infrequent basis

What motivates you?

  • You obsess about customers, listen, engage and act for their benefit.

  • You think big, with curiosity to discover ways to use your agile approach and enable business outcomes.

  • You thrive in teams and enjoy getting things done together.

  • You take ownership and build solutions, focusing on what matters.

  • You do what is right, work with integrity and speak up.

  • You share your humanity, helping us build a diverse and inclusive work environment for everyone.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience providing operations support in an analyst capacity

  • Solid, hands-on experience in writing the Business Requirements/ User Stories
