Job Description

As a Business Development Manager with JMP in our Calgary, Alberta branch, you’ll fuel the growth of one of North America’s fastest growing Systems Integrators, exceeding sales targets by creating and cultivating business relationships within a defined set of target accounts,primarily focused on Oil & Gas, Refining, Chemicals, Food & Beverage, and Consumer Products. The role requires client interaction as well as internal communication to exceed sales quotas, manage client activities across JMP, act as a client advocate, establish and develop sales channels, and adhere to the sales process, including mastering forecasting and account planning via the use of SalesForce.com.

What Would a Typical Day Look Like?

  • BDM’s will drive new and deepen existing business relationships with targeted external clients across focused industries and applications, using SalesForce.com to plan accounts, record sales activities and track pipelines on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Identify and develop relationships with PLC/DCS OEMs and their Channel Partners to gain warm introductions in new accounts and leveraging these relationships to grow in existing accounts
  • Create and maintain account plans for existing walletshare accounts as well as new beachhead accounts. Communicate forecasted business to the commercial and execution teams associated with these accounts.
  • Participate in business planning and visioning by utilizing your market knowledge to provide direction, advice and support at Quarterly Management Meetings and Strategic Planning Meetings annually
  • Interface and coordinate with the operations team in Calgary including the Branch Manager as well as the technical staff, to ensure estimates and proposals are properly addressed and both short-term and long-term regional staffing plans are aligned with business goals.

What Qualifies You for this Opportunity?

  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas within the Industrial Automation industry, specifically with Oil & Gas, Refining, Hydrocarbon Processing, Chemicals, Pulp & Paper, and Food & Beverage markets
  • Degree, Diploma and or trade in Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or comparable industry experience/knowledge preferred
  • Proven experience and established network of business contacts and clients within the targeted industries is required
  • Great sales acumen and understanding of common sales processes; formal sales training is an asset
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to persuade others
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and accountability
  • High integrity and commitment to delivering value to customers
  • High familiarity with the types of technology used by JMP and its customers
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills coupled with excellent listening skills
  • Able to deal with ambiguity in both customer and internal requirements to formulate an effective resolution to a challenge and meet mutually agreeable goals
