Job Description
The Network Cabling Technician will install and maintain communication hardware and networks in large-scale commercial and retail environments.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and manage work orders, drawings and specifications
- Perform site inspections
- Assemble and set up all tools, materials and equipment
- Test computer peripherals, hardware and software to ensure they are working appropriately
- Install network and peripheral hardware (servers, switches, RF devices, POS, printers, etc.)
- Test, review and troubleshoot installed systems
- Install, fish, dress, cross connect and terminated UTP, coax and fibre cable
- Liaise with customers and internal team members to coordinate and schedule hardware/cabling installations
Qualifications
- Full bilingual in French and English
- Experience installing various types of network infrastructure equipment (switches, routers, servers, modems, wireless access points, etc.)
- Experience troubleshooting cabling, network and hardware related issues onsite
- Able to operate hand and power tools
- Must possess a full driver’s licence (G or Class 5 at minimum)
- Must have own vehicle and be able to travel to job sites independently
Work Environment
- Revolving day/night shifts, weekends/on-call, call-backs and overtime
- Extensive travel throughout an assigned geographical region
