The OR Scheduler/ Ambulatory Care Services Clerk works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate the scheduling and admissions of Operating Room procedures, Pre-Operative Clinic booking, Ambulatory Care procedures, consultations and set up of the Telemedicine communications as required. The scheduler/clerk will facilitate communication within the departments. As well as complete the clerical duties essential to the functioning of the Surgical Services and Ambulatory Care departments. The Ambulatory Care Services Clerk will function as a unit clerk for the Ambulatory Care department.


Job Requirements:


Key Accountabilities:

  • Scheduling of OR, Pre-Admission Clinic bookings, Ambulatory Care procedures and consultations
  • Record all registration data into computerized CWS/ORM system as prescribed, including all information required for patient accounting purposes.
  • Ensure patients receive pre-operative admission package and process information
  • Assemble and maintain the client record from pre-operative clinic, admission to discharge or transfer.
  • Collect, complete and distribute Operating Room Statistics, as well as utilization data
  • Responsible for registration of individuals for the WTIS and maintaining registrant information and access.
  • Point of contact for coordinating and disseminating ATC communications and issues as the Surgical WTIS Coordinator as well as being responsible for fielding issues, ensuring data quality processes are followed and that data is of the highest quality.
  • Perform unit clerk duties within the Ambulatory Care department
  • Clerical duties

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Medical Terminology certificate
  • Meditech Expanse Experience
  • Two years’ experience in a similar capacity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to relate to a variety of different personalities
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated initiative, high degree of accuracy and ability to prioritize and function effectively in a busy environment
  • Must work effectively as a team player
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.

Assets:

  • Bilingual - English and French
  • College diploma in Medical Office Admin or equivalent
  • Previous experience in an electronic scheduling system
  • OR/Pre-admission Clinic scheduling knowledge

Hours of Work Permanent Casual day shift. Mainly call in and vacation relief. Required to provide availability for a minimum of six (6) shifts per month. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE collective agreement.

Salary: $23.01 – $25.32 an hour
