Position Description

The First Impressions Team is currently seeking a casual Information Officer. As one of the first points of contact for the CAMH community, this position with CAMH’s First Impressions program is an exciting opportunity to help transform the lives of people living with mental illness and/or addictions. As a front line communicator located at the CAMH Information Desk, the Information Officer plays a key role in helping ensure that CAMH is a welcoming, informative and safe environment for all, particularly for patients, family members, staff and the general public. The Information Officer uses strong organizational skills, refined interpersonal, communications and customer service skills. You will foster respectful relationships with the CAMH community as you provide factual information by email, telephone and in person. The Information Officer will be up-to-date on CAMH programs and services, initiatives and events. You will keep information desk resources current and provide a variety of supports to staff, patients and the general public. This position plays a key role in planning and supporting the implementation of CAMH internal and external community engagement initiatives, including campus tours and events. This position reports to the Manager, First Impressions. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements. The position is located at the Queen Street Site.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor degree in a relevant field combined with one year demonstrated forward-facing experience working and communicating with the general public preferably in the mental health and addictions field. Knowledge of mental health and addictions issues is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including successful experience representing an organization to the public, resourcefulness, well-developed interpersonal skills, sound judgment, professionalism, discretion, tact, courtesy and patience are required. A strong community engagement background working with diverse communities, demonstrable creativity, a proven ability to handle multiple priorities and effective public speaking skills are required. The successful candidate will possess excellent computer and organizational skills, outstanding customer service and telephone skills including the ability to prepare reports and support the team’s projects. The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision and will thrive in a dynamic environment. You will possess demonstrated ability and interest in working with a diverse patient base and in an environment that values equity. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.

Please note: This casual position is part of the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

Salary Range: $26.57 - $32.75 per hour
