Strathcona Resources Ltd. (“Strathcona”) is a Calgary, Alberta based crude oil and gas production and development company focused on maximizing oil and gas recovery from its low decline, high free cash flow oil and gas resource base. Strathcona's operations, infrastructure and land position are focused in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Strathcona is looking for three Facilities Engineering Co-op/Internship Students to provide on-site technical support to the Facility Engineering Team for our Orion, Tucker, and Lindbergh facilities near Cold Lake, Alberta.

This opportunity will begin September 2023 and will be available for an 8-, 12- or 16-month term.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Assistance with facility plant troubleshooting, equipment failure and risk analysis.
  • Preparation and assistance with plant process performance and optimization initiatives.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC) design, execution, and closure activities.
  • Development of engineering calculations, drawings & datasheets.
  • Participation in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) activities.
  • Work in a field environment, regularly participating in engineering activities within a live facility.
Qualifications Include:
  • Currently enrolled in a University Co-op or Internship.
  • Strong academic background in Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering.
  • Previous oil and gas field experience is considered an asset.
  • Computer skills (CAD, MS Office, and databases) are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing to live in/ relocate to the Bonnyville, Cold Lake, or Lloydminster area.
  • Hold a Class 5 driver’s license with a clean drivers abstract.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
