About this Opportunity

As a member of the Engineering department, reporting to the Senior Manager, Construction, you will support the Construction Engineering team through the building phase of the of Gordie Howe International Bridge project. You will be responsible for day to day construction activities i.e. undertaking field review of the construction, reporting on progress, inspecting (auditing) the works for compliance with specifications, reviewing changes; assists in overseeing the quality management, issuing NCRs as appropriate.

Position Requirements

Ø Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

Ø Training, or certifications, related to project management, ISO 14001 (including quality management) is considered an asset

Ø Minimum 3 years in major infrastructure projects. Fabrication and construction materials experience is considered an asset.

Ø Federal government and or other public experience an asset

Ø P3, EPC, DB experience an asset

Ø Demonstrated ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing

Ø Sound professional judgement, initiative and the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines

Ø Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships

Ø Ability to problem solve and make decisions, and do so with a strong attention to detail

Ø Strong analytical, critical thinking and reasoning skills

Ø Ability to influence partners on decision-making

Ø Knowledge of construction, planning and scheduling processes, relevant rules and regulations, safety and quality standards

Ø Knowledge of fabrication processes and construction materials

Ø Knowledge of ISO, considered an asset

Ø Knowledge of building methods and equipment

Ø Knowledge of international standards and codes as asset

Ø Ability to review designs and construction work plans and schedules

Ø Understanding of Critical Path Method

Ø Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office Suite

Ø Primavera or other scheduling software, considered an asset

Ø Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Personnel Screening/Security Clearance

Ø Ability to travel within Ontario and Michigan

Ø Hours of work may include evenings and weekends
