The Opportunity:
Postmedia Editorial Services is looking for a versatile Copy Editor – Paginator with the skills to produce daily newspapers that grab attention and engage time-pressed readers on the move.
What you'll do:
- Writing arresting headlines that project stories
- Editing a high volume of content from breaking news to lifestyle features
- Producing crisp, clear photo cutlines that inform readers
- Slotting newspaper pages to achieve optimal mix and impact
- Layout and design
- Work as part of a tight-knit team in a high-pressure environment to achieve excellence in newspaper design
Skills and qualifications:
- Creative headline writer
- Knowledge of CP style
- Exceptional ability to spot errors in copy
- Knowledge of slotting newspapers, and sound news judgment
- Superb layout and design abilities
- Well organized, with excellent communication skills, and an ability to work under strict deadlines
- Proficiency with InDesign
- Postmedia operates seven days per week, and applicants must be prepared to work nights and weekends.
