Summary:

The Controller will provide support to the CFO and VP Finance in managing day-to-day accounting functions (team of 4) and will own the financial close process and monthly management reporting package. This role will be tasked with monitoring and enforcing relevant policies and procedures, establishing and monitoring internal controls, coaching and helping the team grow professionally, implementing best practices and driving efficiencies within Finance.

This role will also (co-) own and manage relationships with external auditors, banks, lenders, key vendors and other parties, as well as become the primary approver and releaser of daily bank payments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including setting and helping achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Review and approve manual journal entries made by other team members.
  • Review and approve account reconciliations.
  • Coordinate the preparation of financial statements, analytical reports and summaries.
  • Assist in preparing operating and investment budgets, investigating variances (direct involvement with the FP&A component will be minimal)
  • Manage month-, quarter- and year-end close processes, maintain checklists and meet deadlines.
  • Respond to the regulators’ (CRA, Revenue Quebec) inquiries.
  • Liaise with internal department heads.
  • Other duties, as required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
  • Minimum 10 years of finance related experience, of which at least three - managing people.
  • Strong understanding of all financial functions (full-cycle accounting) and how they interact

Salary: $90,238.34-$160,161.10 per year
