Part Time (0.50 fte) Education Assistant/Speech Language Position
Rate of Pay $21.24/hour (Unqualified)
and $24.11 / hour (Qualified)

RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Principal and under the direction of the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), the Speech Language Assistant (SLA) provides assistance to elementary students requiring support to develop/enhance their speech, language, and literacy skills. This position involves, but is not limited to, the development of programming materials, the implementation of intervention programs to students, and documentation and report writing. Assists designated student with activities of a special program, including modification and preparation of materials and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ontario High School Diploma or equivalent required as well as one of the following: Diploma in Teacher Aide Program, Child Care Worker Program, Developmental Services Worker Program, Children’s Services Program or Early Childhood Education Program, Communicative Disorders Assistant Program, or an equivalent diploma or certificate program as determined by the Board. Recognized training as a Teacher Aide/Special Education Assistant or a Teachers’ Certificate with Special Education, Core 1. Board approved crisis prevention training is required. Experience delivering speech, language and literacy programming to students is preferred. Willingness to receive specific training. Membership with Communicative Disorders Assistants Association of Canada an asset.
Placement in this position will be for the balance of the 2022-2023 school year only and is subject to the following: the continued attendance of the pupil(s) involved, the continued need for an assistant, and any program changes deemed necessary by the Board. The Board reserves the right to assign personnel to positions.
