PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

CPKC is looking for an Engineering student to fill temporary positions for broken rail detection within the operations technology team. We will expose interns to various engineering field experiences to learn various aspects of the railway business. You will be part of an engineering team that aims to increase rail safety through implementation and improvements of detectors that monitor rail integrity.

This Postion is a 4 months internship starting June 2023


POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Work through different stages of project management from planning, to procurement, field installations, monitoring
  • Work with project stakeholders
  • Recommend procedures for the system reliability enhancements
  • Travel to sites to support system installations and improvements
  • Regular site visits to audit construction activities and progress
  • Update installation job aids
  • Collaborate on projects with Operations teams to support repair requests and plant improvements.
  • Maintain electronic system maintenance plan and spare part list
  • Perform data analysis

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Engineering Discipline in Electrical Engineering. Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, and Project Management backgrounds will be considered;
  • Must be hands on;
  • Strong problem solving skills and decision making skills;
  • Strong data analysis experience required;
  • Must be proficient with MS Excel, experience with SAP or programming languages for data analytics would be an asset;
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills;
  • Strong leadership and technical skills;
  • Must have valid driver’s license;
  • Extensive traveling (50%) is required for this position. Full expenses are covered including flights, meals, hotels and rental cars.
  • Canadian or US Citizen and able to travel / work in both Canada and the US
