Vancouver Coastal Health has an exciting opportunity for a solo practitioner to join the health care team at the Texada Island Health Centre.

The Texada Island Health Centre is a well equipped health centre providing primary and urgent care services to Texada Island residents and visitors. Regular office hours are Monday to Friday, 0800 – 1600, with low after-hours call volumes. BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) provides service and emergency transfer off-island.

Texada Island is the largest of the Gulf Islands, nestled between the beautiful Sunshine Coast and Vancouver Island. Texada Island is home to approximately 1200 residents, and offers a range of amenities including grocery, banking, golf, tennis, shops, galleries, studios, and many others. The island is accessible by boat, plane, or ferry. BC Ferries connects Texada Island residents to Powell River via a scheduled 40minute sailing, offered multiple times a day. Powell River is a beautiful oceanside city, offering full range of economic, recreational and health care services including qathet General Hospital (qGH). Whether you’re a mountain biker, sailor, part-time artist or musician, this area offers it all!

This role is also eligible for membership with the qathet Division of Family Practice, which works closely with more than 50 members and providers in the region, including family physicians, nurse practitioners, Emergency Room physicians, and specialists. The Division provides support for member-led initiatives, Continuing Medical Education (CME) opportunities, primary care network integration, and member engagement and networking for this tightly knit and supportive community of longitudinal care providers.

  • Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) – Mandatory
  • Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) – Mandatory
  • Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC) – Full
