Responsibilities:
SMTS F IRMWARE E NGINEER

THE ROLE:
We are looking for an SMTS (Senior Member of Technical Staff) Engineer with an obsession for firmware. As part of the role, the SMTS Engineer will work closely with other firmware engineers, developers and architects across various IPs in leading the designs and implementing firmware that spans pre-silicon and post-silicon for all AMD SoCs.

THE PERSON:

You are passionate about firmware development with creative and effective problem-solving skills, a motivated self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively in fast paced environments. You have excellent technical communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to understand complex hardware (HW) architectures and to collaborate on the firmware architectures that support this HW.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead Engineer responsible for designing, developing, debugging, verifying / validating firmware which supports AMD's graphics processors (GPU's).
  • Lead day-to-day firmware development work including directing/overseeing the work of other team members assigned to work with you.
  • Contribute to the development of internal tools / processes to improve development efficiency and quality.
  • Provide consultation to / collaboration with internal and external customers regarding AMD firmware features and programming requirements.
  • Regular communication via Audio/Video conference calls with global teams

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Multiple prior years of related firmware experience combined with technical education within the semiconductor industry.
  • Proven interpersonal skills, technical leadership and collaboration skills required.
  • Expert level experience producing quality firmware.
  • Strong understanding of PC hardware architecture and systems management
  • Hands on knowledge of Assembly and C/C++ language, and debugging tools is a must.
  • Power and clock management experience is a plus.
  • Virtualization experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Source Code management tools
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to run/analyze simulation results (e.g., VCS/Verdi)
  • Experience working with multi-site teams preferred.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, with proven years of experience with firmware or embedded software development.
