Job Description

Buy-Low Foods has an opening for a Grocery Clerk for our store located in Vernon, BC. This role is Part-Time and reports to the Store Manager.

Clerks are responsible for providing fast, friendly service to customers in our busy grocery store. Must be available to work on evenings.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Customer Service

Ensure excellent food quality, quantity, freshness and presentation

Stocking displays to ensure adequate levels

Ensure all prepared items are properly labeled, covered and rotated

Keep store continually clean, well maintained and organized

Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner

Skills and Qualifications:

Food safe ticket an asset

Previous retail or customer service experience in a grocery setting an asset

Ability to work well in a fast paced environment

Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide a great shopping experience for customers

Willingness and availability to work a variety of shifts, including: Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings & Weekends

Ability to work in a safe and responsible manner

Physical ability to stand, lift, and handle up to 50 pounds on a regular basis

Able to work independently or in a collaborative team environment

Proven track record as a self-starter; dedicated and goal orientated

Demonstrated high level of communication, interpersonal & conflict resolution skills

Ability to ensure compliance of established company policy

Willingness to be cross-trained in different departments

Excellent command of the English language both verbal and written
