Job Description

We are seeking a home share provider to support a young woman with special needs in her beautiful home in Powell River, BC.

She enjoys socializing and being around people. Her smile lights up a room and she is always the first person up for any kind of adventure. She enjoys being outside, going for walks in her community, and swimming at the local pool in the warmer months.

During the evenings, she enjoys sharing meals with her loved ones, relaxing, and watching movies together. She sleeps well throughout the night.

This individual uses a wheelchair to get around. She is able to weight bare and transferring does not include any physical lifting, only guiding and support.

The successful applicant will be someone energetic, active and up for adventure.

This is a live-in (home-share) position.
The qualified applicant will provide in home support from Monday to Friday from 5:00 pm to following morning 9:00 am when the daytime support worker arrives and 24-hour support every other weekend.

Every second weekend will be provided as respite. She also has Community Support Workers that will be with her during the day so there will be ample free time. #UN2023

Duties and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• A desire to provide person-centered support.
• Personal care: bathing, administrating medication when required.
• Meals: nutritious meal planning and meal preparation, grocery shopping as needed.
• Housekeeping: general house keeping and maintaining an organized home.
• Teamwork and leadership: effective communication with other support staff, family, and agency supervisors.
• Administration: maintain appropriate written records like communication sheets, medical records, expense records.
• Willingness to be responsible for individual in the event that a family member or support worker is not available.

Requirements:

• A Clean criminal record search clearing you to work with vulnerable individuals
• Class 5 driving license
• National Safety Code Abstract (ICBC driving record search)
• First Aid Certificate/Training
• English Language proficiency
• Experience as a caregiver for special needs young adults is helpful but not essential
• 3 professional and personal character references

Compensation:

$3160.00 tax free per month

+ accommodation in a fully separate basement suite, with own kitchen and bathroom.

More to be discussed on the living arrangement during interview.

This position is open to anyone located within Canada that is willing to relocate to Powell River, British Columbia.
