Journalist/Copywriter
The Ottawa Swans Australian Football Club was established in 2007 and is a registered not for profit organization focused on growing Australian Rules Football in Ottawa and its surrounding regions.
Journalist/Copywriter Roles and Responsibilities:
● Creation of content including but not limited to news articles to be published in local papers, the website and social media
● Working with the Ottawa Swans webmaster to ensure providing content for the website with proper formatting
● Working with the Ottawa Swans social media team to provide content where needed
Journalist/Copywriter Requirements:
● A bachelor's degree (or current enrollment) in a journalism, or related field.
● Experience creating strong, engaging content.
● A portfolio of applicable outputs.
● Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading, and editing.
● Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills.
● Strong listening and communication skills.
● The capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
● Ability to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy.
Good to have but not essential:
● Bilingual (French & English).
● A knowledge of, or background in, Australian Football.
Position Details:
● 8 Week position: ASAP - September 2nd, 2023
● Up to 35 hours per week.
● $15.50 per hour
● Reports to Yaser Abou Elenein, President of the club
Funding for this position is gained through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, as such, eligible candidates need to be under the age of 30 and either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
