Position Overview
Located at the urban core of the beautiful North Shore with convenient access to major regional and global centres, Lonsdale Energy Corporation (LEC) continues to expand and develop a District Energy System that currently services over 100 buildings. Through the City of North Vancouver, the LEC has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Junior Accountant.

Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Manager, Finance, this position will be responsible for accounting work of a technical and complex nature for the City and related entities, such as: maintenance of general ledger accounts, account reconciliations and analysis, general accounting transactions, year-end accounting contributing towards the preparation of the financial statements in adherence to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), preparation of various financial and government reports, GST/PST reports, monitoring and enforcing financial controls, reviewing and evaluating data and processes needed to support financial reporting, providing guidance and direction on accounting procedures and problems, and supporting the implementation of new and/or revised financial systems.
You will also liaise with departments to provide guidance on accounting issues, explain financial information, and prepare financial reports and related materials for senior management, Council, and the public. Your excellent organizational skills, the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, together with your proven interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships will ensure success in this position.

Requirements
Completion of the 12th grade and successful completion of three years in a recognized professional accounting course and sound related experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Having a CPA designation or enrolment in the CPA program would be considered an asset.

LEC offers an attractive remuneration package for this 2-year temporary exempt position
