Junior Accounting Generalist

Southeast Calgary Location

A well-established group of privately owned dealerships with a Calgary head office is looking to add to their Accounting team. Are you an up-and-coming worker with accounting experience? We would like to discuss exciting possibilities with you.

Reporting to the Controller, this position requires knowledge of accounting practices and strong attention to detail. You will work in a department where you will have the opportunity to learn every aspect of what it takes to run an accounting department in a successful dealership environment.

Responsibilities including, but not limited to:

  • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department
  • Accounts Payable assistance - obtain approvals and accurately enter invoices
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies, correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Reconciling payables accounts including credit card statements
  • Accounts Receivable assistance – process payments received, prepare and post journal entries
  • Reconciling customer accounts
  • Reconciling truck inventory and accrual accounts
  • Review and record employee expense reports
  • Review and reconcile payroll expense and accrual accounts
  • Reconciling USD and CAD bank accounts
  • Assist with month end closing
  • Responsible for filing and maintaining organized document storage
  • Provide vacation coverage in all administration areas including Reception

Skills and Attributes:

  • Working towards a Degree or Diploma in Accounting, or Business Administration
  • Dealership experience an asset
  • CDK knowledge helpful
  • Excellent MS office skills
  • Strong analytical skills, capable of resolving problems independently
  • Ability to work and contribute in a team environment
  • Able to handle the stresses of deadlines and multiple daily interactions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $48,000.00-$52,000.00 per year
