Working with the interdisciplinary team, the role will involve developing and implementing programs for people with brain injuries. Experience with the injured, especially brain injured, population, rehabilitation programs, and discharge planning and monitoring is preferred. In addition, you will be trained to provide coverage and support for program kinesiologists in our rehabilitation programs.

Work will primarily be based out of the CBI Burnaby clinic but you may be requested to provide support for other CBI clinics if needed.



PRIMARY DUTIES
As a Registered Kinesiologist, you will:

  • Prepare components of assessment, progress, and discharge reports
  • Work with a client profile that can range from orthopedic injuries and persisting pain, to cognitive and/or mood related barriers
  • Design and implement a therapeutic exercise program to meet the identified client needs
  • Be responsible for the provision of one-on-one and group kinesiology exercise instruction
  • Supervise groups of up to 9 clients in gym, pool, and other settings
  • Teach a variety of group education classes
  • Complete and document functional assessments

QUALIFICATIONS
To take on the role of Registered Kinesiologist, you must:

  • Have an undergraduate degree in kinesiology or human kinetics
  • Registration (in good standing) with the BC Association of Kinesiologists
  • Have excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to work independently
  • Be comfortable working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Be empathetic with an effective ability to build rapport with clients
  • Be trained in functional capacity evaluations
  • Demonstrate an understanding of medical conditions, disability management, appropriate exercise prescription and progression, planning and monitoring, job coaching, and ergonomics.
