The Kitchen Helper assists the Cook in preparing meals.

Hours:

• Flexibility in hours is expected & hours may include evenings and weekends

• Willingness to work within the mission, vision & values of The Salvation Army
• Assists in preparing meal, including dietary meals as directed by the Food Services Coordinator.
• Follows work practices to ensure the efficient delivery of food
• Follows policy on the use of donated foods
• May place order for food supplies, in coordination with the food services coordinator.
• Organizes the work of food services in the absence of the food services coordinator.
• Cleans the kitchen and kitchen equipment as assigned
• Keeps simple records and completes incident reports as necessary.
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• No specific academic education required, must be able to read and write
• Food Safe 1 basic required
• CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset

Experience:

• Preference given to those who have prior kitchen/restaurant helper experience

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions
• Ability to lift more than 30 pounds
• Agreeable to a flexible, non-routine schedule

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

• Background check
• A clear vulnerable sector screening
• A clean drivers abstract
• Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety
