Kitchen Manager Job Description
What:
Cowichan Green Community (CGC) is looking for a Kitchen Manager who will be responsible for overseeing kitchen operations and supervising staff in CGC’s commercial kitchens. This position will also assist with the community meal preparation. If you love managing people and supporting more vulnerable people including seniors, youth, and those who are struggling with homelessness, then this is the job for you.
In 2013 CGC purchased The Station, and the kitchen was used as a community kitchen where renters could utilize our new space. In 201 the kitchen was also contracted to make Meals on Wheels.
Since April 2021, Cowichan Green Community Foundation took on coordinating the Meals on Wheels program, which was previously run through Cowichan Seniors Foundation.
The kitchen now feeds various temporary shelters, and homeless youth seven days a week and will be taking on new contracts with various housing facilities.

When:
CGC is hiring immediately for a full time Kitchen Manager. Our kitchen is open from 9am to 5:30pm, seven days a week. Some weekend and evening work will be required.

Experience and Skills:
The ideal candidate has:
· Strong communication skills to effectively interact with the Kitchen Manager, other staff, participants, volunteers, and community members
· Versatile food skills and knowledge including meal prep, cooking, preserving, processing, and baking and a certificate/diploma in food skills is an asset.
· Workable knowledge of Word, Excel, Zoom, and the Internet.
· Two or more years’ experience at a community non-profit organization is an asset
