What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Manager of Development and Principal Planner, the Urban Design Landscape Architect is responsible for the development and maintenance of landscape/urban design guidelines, for plans of subdivision and site plans.

  • Review, evaluate and assess landscape plan submission materials for compliance with legislative and policy requirements.

  • Review landscape plan submissions for capital works, which may include detailed grading and drainage plans, erosion control plans, construction drawings, servicing/lighting/utilities, etc

  • Administration of any associated financial securities for required landscape works, including the receipt and processing of cash-in-lieu values, compensation contributions, etc.

  • Provide comments for pre-consultations and development applications

  • Manage the Planning and Development Department’s future specified (FS) accounts for trees

    • Processing of tree removal/permit application

    • Coordinate with internal and external staff including consultants to manage multiple deadlines and provide responses

What You Bring To Our Team

As the successful applicant, you possess

  • A four (4) year post secondary school diploma in Urban Planning, Urban Design or Landscape Architecture;

  • Possess a minimum of four (4) years of progressive work experience in landscape architecture;

  • Possess knowledge of construction and field inspections;

  • A demonstrated working knowledge of computer design skills;

  • ISA arborist certification preferred;

  • Have knowledge of the CPTED, Planning Act, and Landscape design;

  • Familiarity with woody plant material and botanical nomenclature; and,

  • Eligible or accredited member of Ontario Association of Landscape Architects

  • Salary: $66,703 - $83,465 per annum (Band B)

This is designated as a designated as a Remote Hybrid role. Remote Hybrid recognizes that up to 60% of job functions associated with the role can be done virtually, from a remote office.
