Registered Occupational Therapist - Kingston

As an Occupational Therapist within our CBI Health Centre, you will work in the community, offering programs and services ranging from driving assessments to activation programs, and return to work coordination and education. You are a self-starter who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team, and you have the proven ability to deliver excellence in client outcomes.

What You’ll Do as an Occupational Therapy at CBI Health
  • Assess clients’ physical abilities through evaluative procedures such as functional ability tests.
  • Provide impartial home, job, and safety/attendant care assessments, functional ability evaluations, insurer examinations, ergonomic assessments, client education, and job coaching as required.
  • Establish treatment goals with clients based on physical diagnoses.
  • Make care plans for clients with complex needs.
  • Communicate with referring physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding clients' needs.
  • Implement physiotherapy programs including therapeutic exercises.
  • Develop and implement health promotion programs for clients, staff, and the community.
  • Develop client-centered care plans in collaboration with your clients, their families, and their interdisciplinary teams.
  • Use evidence-informed practices when providing care.
  • Record workload measurement data
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Help your clients achieve their optimal level of independence and wellness.
  • Attend staff meetings and case conference meetings as required
  • Provide professional services to other CBI facilities or departments ars required.

What you need to be successful

  • You possess a Masters Degree or recognized equivalent in Occupational Therapy.
  • You are registered in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • You have 2+ years of clinical experience (an asset)
  • You can assist/ teach exercise programs and train activities of daily living, including the use of assistive devices
  • You are knowledgeable in the use of therapeutic equipment
  • You have strong skills in critical thinking, decision-making, and analysis.
  • You are focused to embrace personal and family-centered care
  • You are passionate, empathetic, use good judgment, and apply critical thinking when making client decisions
  • You are known for your excellent communication skills and ability to work in collaboration within an interdisciplinary team as well as work independently
  • You have the ability to travel within the Cambridge community with a valid driver's license and vehicle as part of the CBI Home Health team
  • You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Your bilingual language skills in English and French are an asset
