As a full-time Occupational Therapist serving the Greater Toronto Area, you will be part of a team working in the community, offering programs and services ranging from behavioural activation programs, exposure therapy and psychological trauma programs, in-home and hospital discharge assessments, return to work coordination and education, as well as working directly with employers to deliver preventative education and measures around workplace mental health. If you have the proven ability to deliver excellence in client outcomes, enjoy working with clients one to one while also working with psychologists and psychotherapists, and like the idea of being connected with a national network of highly trained experts, then this position is the perfect fit for you.

Take an inside look at what you’ll do each day
  • Work closely with first responders and their employers, including police, fire, EMS, and corrections services
  • Be creative in treatment plans, especially with both Imaginal and In Vivo methods within trauma and exposure therapies
  • Work with your clients throughout their entire treatment plan, from assessment to discharge, and be involved in the final positive outcome
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other health professionals (e.g. psychology, psychotherapy) both locally and nationally to deliver excellent client outcomes, and have access to extensive educational resources and subject matter experts
  • Be innovative by incorporating new technologies, like our VR headsets, into your therapies
  • Work with WSIB complex files
  • Conduct hospital discharges
  • Perform attendant care assessments, with completion of Form 1’s
  • Provide assessment and treatment to a wide variety of clients with varying needs, including those with chronic and/or mental health conditions
  • Coordinate the delivery/installation and set-up of assistive devices and/or home modifications, and personal support worker services, as well as the transportation/rehabilitation needs of clients with acute injuries post discharge
  • Coordinate the return to work process with all stakeholders in a timely way, ensuring a smooth transition into the workplace
  • Work closely with the team and other resources to develop new programs to meet identified client needs
  • Perform regular, timely charting, reporting and communication, and record workload measurement data
  • Teach a variety of group education classes
What you need to be successful
  • Passion about your profession, commitment to ongoing professional development, and dedication to providing excelled client care
  • Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Strong clinical skills in one or more of the following: complex orthopaedic injury, mental Health, or vocational rehabilitation
  • Strong critical thinking, decision-making and analysis skills
  • Experience in the private sector, particularly with auto sector legislation and WSIB
  • Enthusiasm for working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Empathy and an effective ability to build rapport with clients
  • A valid driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and to facilitate our clients’ needs by exceeding their goals
