Job Description

Grieg Seafood BC Ltd., a dynamic and growing company in the Aquaculture industry, is seeking a full-time Payroll and Benefits Administrator. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for processing all aspects of payroll and for administrating the company’s employee benefit plans.


Key Accountabilities:


Payroll Administration

  • Prepare and process full-cycle payroll accurately and on time on a bi-weekly basis;
  • Audit Time and Attendance and Time Off entries and export data into payroll;
  • Process pay adjustments and pay data uploads, ensuring input is appropriately authorized with strict adherence to deadlines;
  • Calculate and process off-cycle payroll cheques as needed;
  • Set-up new employees in the payroll system and other company systems as required;
  • Terminate employees as needed from applicable company systems;
  • Update and maintain employee records in compliance with applicable legislation;
  • Assist with the running of payroll reports to support HR, Finance and auditors as required;
  • Support employees and department managers on payroll, and time and attendance processes;
  • Remain current with changes in payroll, taxation and other related legislation;
  • Address outside payroll enquiries to authorized third parties such as Service Canada, ICBC, WCB, legal firms, etc.


Benefits Administration

  • Administer all company benefits programs;
  • Enroll eligible employees in applicable benefit plans and processes benefit changes;
  • Review the monthly statements and coordinate payment with Finance;
  • Manage the company RRSP program;
  • Assist with the completion of the LTD and WCB forms as needed.


Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in payroll administration
  • A minimum of 1-2 years payroll experience;
  • Canadian Payroll Association certification or working towards is an asset;
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards and payroll accounting;
  • Working knowledge of employee benefit programs;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills;
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple deadlines and priorities;
  • Flexible and have the ability to adapt quickly to a frequently changing environment where decisions are made quickly;
  • Responsible, enthusiastic and reliable team player who can demonstrate good communication, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills;
  • Flexibility to work overtime to meet conflicting submission deadlines if required;
  • Ability to work with highly confidential, sensitive information appropriately;
  • Approachable and displays a positive can-do attitude.
