Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Project Accountant. Reporting to the Deputy Director, Finance, the Project Accountant will support the Engineering Department and act as the liaison between the Engineering and Finance Departments on capital project financial matters. The incumbent will be responsible for the finance and accounting of capital projects, working with Project Managers on monthly billing, cost control, forecasting and reporting for projects. This position will work closely with City staff at various levels, seeking and soliciting information and cooperation.

Requirements

Applicants must have a recognized British Columbia Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a variety of complex accounting practices.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a unionized position. $48.87 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2022 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week. Relocation assistance may be provided to the successful applicant.
