Reporting to the Executive Director, Population & Public Health (PPH), the Director, Public Health (the Director) is responsible and accountable for providing leadership in all aspects of the monitoring, planning, coordination, operation, and evaluation of Island Health clinical public health, harm reduction/toxic drug response and sexual health services (Public Health programs). The Director has an integral role in the development and delivery of these services through policy, projects, programs services and is the central point of contact for these public health services in Island Health. The Director leads the Program Managers in operational planning, budget management, and coordination of new and existing health authority-wide initiatives, policies and procedures.
The Director works closely with Island Health's Population & Public Health Leadership Team, which includes the Medical Health Officers and other Director within the Portfolio. The Director represents the Health Authority for Public Health programs with key stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction, other Regional Health Authorities and relevant advisory committees.
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN or MSA), Public Health, or Business Administration (MBA) and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive senior management experience in health care/program management.
