Your Opportunity:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Sheldon Chumir Urgent Care works as a member of the health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care to meet the needs of patients, families & communities within his/her level of competency. The RN is responsible for assessment (including triaging), planning, implementation and evaluation of care delivered. The Sheldon Chumir Health Centre, located in downtown Calgary, offers a wide range of services including urgent care, mental health, supervised consumption services, public health, home care, specialty clinics and community outreach. The Urgent Care Centre (UCC) is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provides care for unscheduled health conditions to a diverse population, as part of an integrated community service delivery model.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.17/hour - $42.96/hour ($35.87/hour - $43.82/hour effective April 1, 2023). Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current ACLS certification REQUIRED (From the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation). At least one year recent (within the last year) acute care nursing experience as an RN or LPN required. Ability to work in a stressful, rapid paced, dynamic environment required. Demonstrated critical thinking skills, including clinical judgment and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal & communication skills required. Ability to work independently and interdependently. Demonstrated strength in developing collaborative, effective working relationships with clients of cultural diversity and socio-economic diversity. Preferred Qualifications:

Current experience (within last six months and of at least one year duration) in Emergency nursing or Urgent Care nursing. Recent NVCI training. Current (within last six months and of at least six months duration) triage experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Department setting. Current Urgent Care charge nurse experience. Computer skills an asset. Proficiency working with Connect Care (EPIC).
