Position Description
A temporary full time (1.0) Middle School Teacher is required by School District No. 60 (Peace River North) effective September 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. The assignment will be at Clearview Elementary School.
Clearview is a K-9 rural school located 30 minutes northeast from the thriving community of Fort St John. The economy of the area is based mainly on farming, the gas/oil industry, and some logging. The school is nestled on top of a hill that provides a clear view of the rolling hills and vast sky. Of our student population of 110 students, twenty percent are Indigenous students. Our school enjoys itinerant access to a range of services supporting areas such as Inclusion, ELL, Counseling and Aboriginal Counseling
Qualifications and Experience
Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
Experience with adapting and modifying curriculum to meet the needs of students
Qualifications and ability to teach the identified subjects at the middle year level
Ability to teach French as a second language would be an asset
A willingness to work on teacher teams to collaborate regarding curriculum, assessment, instruction and planning
A willingness and desire to be a teacher advisor to students
Ability and desire to learn and utilize technology/computers in the instructional process and reporting periods
Excellent interpersonal skills
Classroom management practices that maintain student dignity
Assessment practices supportive of the learning process
Ability to work with students having social and emotional needs
Ability to work with middle year level students

Three (3) references
Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)
Compensation
$2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
$2,947 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $63,492 - $108.576
Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enrol in medical, dental, extended health, and group life insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE
Subsidized and affordable staff housing for rural positions
Isolation allowance of $438.30 paid over 10 months
