Job Description
The Security Guard, Charge is the resource and primary contact person for the Security Guards and is responsible for maintaining cohesive teamwork.Qualifications Include:
- Graduate of a security administration/law enforcement program or a combination of ongoing studies and related equivalent experience
- Must possess a valid Private Security License in accordance with the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005
- Previous experience in Healthcare Security an asset. Knowledge of computer software applications (Windows environment)
- Previous experience with security systems such as access control and video management systems an asset
- Must have completed IAHSS (International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety) Supervisory level of certification
- Must pass the hospital's approved annual training program for use of force, handcuffing, and defensive batons (for external candidates, within 6 months of hire)
- Demonstrated excellent communication (verbal/written), interpersonal, problem solving skills, and de-escalation techniques using appropriate judgement, decision-making and problem solving skills under high stress and/or emergency conditions.
- Have a general knowledge of fire safety/prevention & disaster response
- Responsible for scheduling, committee participation and other administrative duties as required
- Must be able to demonstrate Security's core values of honesty and integrity while ensuring the Safety and Security of the Hospital's patients, visitors, staff and assets
- Liaise with management on a consistent basis
- Demonstrated leadership abilities in a security-supervising role
- Responsible for training and mentoring guards on general duties, report writing, and orientation
- Must have and maintain an excellent attendance record
- Must have a good employee record
