We are looking for a motivated professional to join our Regional team and support our electrical regulatory compliance group.
As an expert in your discipline, you will establish and maintain working relationships with important partners like power generation, transmission & distribution (T&D), Operational Technology (OT), and/or Information Technology (IT) business leaders, system administrators, auditors, consultants, and vendors to produce the best results for existing and new Bulk Electric System (BES) and supporting assets.
Minimum requirements:
  • Five years of relevant experience in the Energy industry
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution
  • Registration with APEGA and/or PMP certification
  • Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) will be an asset.
  • Understanding of Power Generation and Transmission rules, regulations, standards, and audit process and execution; Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) and/or North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment, positively influence others, and develop strong internal and external relationships
  • Continuous improvement mindset, working to ensure our processes are more effective and efficient
  • Self-starter, work well in a dynamic environment, comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to articulate risk around options, how to identify the risks associated with the initiatives and problems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the development/review of Suncor’s internal Electrical Regulatory Compliance (ERC) standards and procedures related to Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), and/or Operations and Planning (O&P) Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS)
  • Facilitate field implementation of new Alberta CIP standards, including support of building and implementing controls to meet compliance requirements
  • Support drafting Self-reports and Mitigation Plans as may be necessary
  • Follow up and report completion regarding gap closure related to Suspected Contraventions
  • Support the creation of annual AESO Self-certification packages
  • Support ARS Compliance audit as may be necessary
  • Support day-to-day ERC activities and interact with different Business Areas.
Location and other Key Details:
  • You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 –6th Ave S.W.
  • Relocation support will be provided
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
