Our client is a successful and well-established commercial development and management company that is seeking a Senior Commercial Property Accountant for permanent hire.

About the Role:
The Senior Commercial Property Accountant will be responsible for organizing the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of retail properties. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Review agreements, checking to ensure that all definitions and Rent calculations are correct and enter lease information into Skyline Software
  • Create tenant invoices, post tenants’ cheques, tenant chargebacks, prepare statements of arrears, CAM Tax and recoveries and assist with rent collection
  • Responsible for Accounts Payable. Receive and post invoices and conduct weekly cheque runs and ensure accurate coding
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages for management review including: Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Variance Analysis and Account Reconciliations, and Monthly Sales Reports
  • Review system generated journal entries at month-end for accuracy and trends
  • Prepare and submit payroll, source deductions, T4s, government remittances including WSIB and EHT, and corporate tax.
  • Prepare annual CAM and TMI reports to review with management.
  • Prepare annual TMI statements to Tenants in accordance with direction given by management.
  • Prepare year end working paper files for five operating companies and submit to accounting firm
  • Review mortgage and line credit report to management
  • Prepare information for property insurance annual renewal providing projected rent
  • Other related duties as required
Qualifications:
  • 8 or more years experience in full cycle Real Estate accounting and experience in Retail and Commercial Property is required
  • CPA Designation considered an asset
  • Attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and strong adherence to established deadlines
  • Organized and efficient with strong multi-task skills and the ability to work under pressure with changing priorities
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, Quickbooks and Skyline
  • Proactive and self-motivated individual who is goals and results driven
  • Ability to work effectively individually, with minimal direction, and as part of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
