As a Senior Data Analyst, you will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating complex transit data to assist with operational performance measures to further enhance service delivery for our citizens. Primary duties include:
  • Support the strategic objectives set out under the Calgary Transit Employee Development and Operational Performance and Schedules Strategic Plan.
  • Support the Calgary Transit Employee Development and Transit Operational Performance sections by furthering operational efficiencies through the identification of application and data requirements, management various projects that require resources allocation, planning, scheduling of training, and onboarding of operator staff.
  • Responsibilities of the position also include: designing matrices, dashboards, scheduling/staffing, analyzing and dissemination of various Transit-related studies used by Employee Development, Transit Operational Performance, other civic departments, and external consultants pertaining to decisions regarding Transit issues.
  • Gather data requirements, recommends efficient data-related, business, and operational reporting solutions, and generates customized and complete ad-hoc reports to meet needs of Calgary Transit Employee Development.
  • Provide actionable insight and analysis that drive results, inform strategies, and maximize opportunities for the business.
  • Undertake complex analysis, but instilling key insights in a simple model for business collaborators to understand and act upon.
Qualifications
  • A completed 2 year diploma and at least 5 years’ experience in Statistical Analysis.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI) or similar BI tool, and Structures Query Language (SQL) are required.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Experience with database management, computer programming, business process improvement, quality assurance, and project management will be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge in different programming/scripting languages (for example: R, Python, JavaScript) will be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with other transit/transportation software products (for example: route scheduling, computerized passenger information systems) would be beneficial.
  • Success in this position requires skills in planning, organizing, database analysis, arithmetic calculations, attention to details, strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical collaborators, proficiently deal with multiple competing priorities and possess an aptitude for problem solving and dealing with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, collaborate with other partners and work effectively in a team setting.

Compensation: $35.88 - 48.00 per hour
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
