OVERVIEW

Long Point Basin Land Trust (LPBLT) is a charitable, non-government organization in southwestern Ontario that is dedicated to protecting and preserving important areas for biodiversity in the Long Point Basin – an area which has the highest concentration of biodiversity in Canada and which is home to important populations of rare species that occur only in the lower Great Lakes such as the Eastern Fox Snake. LPBLT works with local citizens and communities to promote conservation through land securement, outreach, research, habitat restoration and species at risk recovery.

The Senior Development Manager will play a crucial role in raising funds from government and private sources to support LPBLT’s ambitious plans to significantly increase lands under its protection in support of the federal government’s goal to conserve 30 percent of Canada’s land and water by 2030.

We are seeking an experienced, skilled and effective individual who will enthusiastically engage in the work of LPBLT. Collaborating with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Senior Development Manager will be responsible for creating and implementing fund development, marketing and communications plans and processes for the organization.

There may be room for advancement depending upon the success of the individual in this position.

LOCATION

The right candidate will have the ability to work from home but there will be some travel within the Long Point Basin - Elgin, Norfolk, Haldimand, Brant and Oxford Counties. You will be required to attend meetings at the office in Port Rowan, Ontario.

TERM AND SALARY

This position is compensated at $75,000 - $85,000 per annum, subject to experience, based on a regular workweek of 37.5 hours, plus mandatory government benefits. LPBLT offers a health benefit package to full-time employees. Evenings and weekends may infrequently be required. This position is offered contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued availability of funding.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, marketing, communications, public relations and event management with demonstrated success;
  • demonstrated fundraising experience. CFRE designation is an asset;
  • strong grant writing skills;
  • experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software;
  • superior English-language verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking; experience in the development of both print and digital materials;
  • excellent organizational and time management skills; effective at managing multiple priorities and deliverables with competing deadlines;
  • strong attention to detail;
  • ability to initiate and coordinate numerous activities with minimal supervision and an adept problem solver;
  • valid Ontario driver’s license with access to a vehicle;
  • experience developing online content for platforms such as, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram;
  • event planning experience; and
  • an interest and passion about the natural world and knowledge of environmental conservation practices is recommended.
