Major Duties


  • As a key member of the Finance team your primary objective will be to provide project financials to the business. You will be a business partner to the project and operational management teams to help ensure successful project execution. This will be accomplished through financial reporting, measuring and controlling, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.

Specific Responsibilities


Operational Support

  • Liaise with Project Management team, providing timely and accurate financial information
  • Review PM’s forecast to ensure integrity
  • Prepare and comment on monthly project variances
  • Prepare financial analysis on projects for management
  • Lead role in the project revenue forecasting process
  • Contribute to the preparation of the monthly MBR package
  • Assist in the month end, quarter end, and year end reporting requirements
  • Lead the yearly planning process
  • Review bid proposals as required


Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Responsible for the accounting and administration of all contracts in progress including:
    • Setup and maintain job control sheets for customer contracts and change orders
    • Setup and maintain projects in JDE
    • Ensure job margins in JDE are consistent with the project manager’s forecast
    • Monitor project milestones billings to ensure that progress billings are up to date
    • Assist in the preparation of consolidation package
    • Liaise with external auditors with respect to project based enquires


Internal Control, Policies & Procedures

  • Ensure that policies and procedures are adhered to in a consistent manner within the division and that the financial reporting standards are applied consistently. Regularly review policies and procedures with Divisional Controller and Senior Financial Staff, to develop an ATS best practice approach for the financial management of the company.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the safeguarding of company assets.

Qualifications


Education

  • Degree in Business, or Accounting, CPA/CMA designation required


Experience

  • Previous exposure to Percentage of Completion Accounting a definite asset.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing or job cost accounting environment is preferable.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization both verbal and in written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical, financial reporting and accounting skills as well superior computer skills (advanced knowledge of Excel, JDE experience a definite asset).
  • Must be hands-on, detail and results-oriented and able to consistently meet deadlines.
