Robert Half is partnered with our client in their search for their next Senior Payroll Specialist. We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist with expertise in multi-provincial payroll, with a focus on Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta. The ideal candidate will hold a PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation and have a solid understanding of Canadian payroll laws. Candidates with additional payroll experience in the United States or the United Kingdom will be considered an asset. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the payroll process, ensuring compliance with all relevant payroll regulations and delivering accurate and timely payroll services.
Responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end payroll processing for employees in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta, ensuring compliance with provincial regulations and statutory requirements.
Administer and process payroll, including salary adjustments, deductions, and benefits calculations accurately and in a timely manner.
Verify payroll inputs, such as hours worked, overtime, vacation, and leaves, ensuring accuracy and completeness of employee data.
Prepare and distribute payroll reports, payslips, and other payroll-related documents to employees and relevant stakeholders.
Liaise with employees, HR, and finance departments to resolve payroll-related queries and provide exceptional customer service.
Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll legislation and regulations in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely remittances of payroll-related taxes, pension contributions, and other deductions.
Assist in the preparation of year-end payroll reports and statutory filings, such as T4s, ROEs, and WCB reports.
Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures to ensure efficient and accurate payroll operations.
Requirements:
PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation is mandatory.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll administration, with a strong emphasis on Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta payroll.
Solid understanding of Canadian payroll legislation, including employment standards, tax regulations, and statutory deductions.
Experience with US or UK payroll administration is considered an asset.
Proficient in using payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
