Job Summary

The Strategic Innovation Division provides system level leadership for the BC health systems efforts to provide innovative clinical services and supports and to deliver on the health system strategy. The division supports health research across the province. The Research and Technology Branch manages health research policy and priorities of importance to BC’s health system, promoting health research translation and innovation. It serves as primary liaison with BC’s health research community, health research funding agencies and life sciences community.

Reporting to the Branch Director, the Senior Policy Analyst provides policy development and analytic support by managing projects of strategic significance to the Ministry of Health, the healthcare system and the public, and providing senior level policy advice on significant issues.

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in health, public administration, social sciences, natural sciences, business administration, law, economics or related field and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience; OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in health, public administration, social sciences, natural sciences, business administration, law, economics or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience; OR
  • Associate’s Degree in health, public administration, social sciences, natural sciences, business administration, law, economics or related field and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.


Related experience must include all of the following:

  • Policy development (researching, consulting, analyzing, synthesizing and producing recommendations for policy).
  • Providing evidence-informed advice AND developing written materials for senior staff/executive.
  • Conducting and/or coordinating and/or facilitating clinical and/or academic research.
  • Experience building working relationships and collaborating with team members, other staff within your organization AND external stakeholders.


Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience developing and managing contracts.
  • Experience in the health system research ecosystem. This may be conducting research, facilitating research, or partnering with researchers or research organizations.
