Special Needs Educator
Phoenix Development Centre is looking for committed, caring and experienced Special Needs Educators to work with children/adolescents and their families in Durham, Scarborough, East York, and North York. These are employee Part-Time Positions.
Work hours are available from Monday to Saturday.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
The Special Needs Educator will:
- Facilitate engaging one-to-one learning sessions (in person) with children and adolescents with autism, learning and other developmental disabilities in the clients’ homes and in the community.
- Facilitate caregiver-mediated intervention and parent training.
- Utilize the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis to teach academic, daily living, communication, and social skills.
- Participate in client-related meetings.
- Manage client data under the supervision of the program supervisors.
- Conduct skills assessments.
- Update & maintain clients’ electronic binders.
- Utilize Augmentative and Alternative Communication Devices.
- Work independently while being part of a team.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Have reliable work attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- A minimum of 1-year experience working with children/adolescents with special needs in a clinic, school, or home-based settings utilizing the principles of ABA.
- Experience in various data collection systems, managing clients’ learning binders and management of problem behaviours.
- Degree/Diploma in psychology or related field, OR diploma in behavioural sciences
- Current Police Vulnerable Sector Check or the ability to obtain one.
Rate of Pay: $22-$26 (based on experience).
