What is the opportunity?

This is an opportunity to work on the strategic Finance reporting system, which derives data from enterprise data lake, for different trading systems, Sub Ledgers and other golden reference sources, with the standard data module. These data are then enriched, reconciled and projected on the application GUI which will support our business users to conduct the financial report analysis.

The business analyst will be working with the clients and data providers closely to define the requirements, data mapping and business rules for the most efficient use of data. This position requires a lot of interpersonal interaction at all levels within the organization, from technical personnel to high level management, excellent communication skills are a must for this role. Role requires work in high pressure environment due to tight timelines.

What will you do?

  • Lead the BA responsibilities of a high visibility project involving reconciliation and reporting.
  • Understand the various financial products in RBC and how they have been modeled, such as derivatives and fungibles. Be familiar with reconciliation process and concepts of trades, positions, and sub-ledger, price valuations.
  • Analysis and document Business and Functional requirements from business stakeholders. Lead and facilitate collaborative sessions with business stakeholders to drive requirements discovery, analysis, and review.
  • Get familiar with current data models and systems. Perform data analysis and reverse engineering, using SQL, Python, or other tools, to access the current and future states and perform gap analysis. Identify upstream and downstream dependencies.
  • Construct data flow diagrams, business and system context diagrams, create technical specifications. Work closely with the development teams to ensure there is full understanding and proper execution of requirements in a timely manner.
  • Provide hands-on support during various cycles of testing including Functional Testing, Systems Integration Testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Adopt Agile methodologies to enable periodic implementations.
  • Scrum Management experience, provide high level key deliverable plan and detail break down to user stories and major tasks; providing guidance and leadership through to the scrum team during all project phases; ability to handle pressure with multiple priorities.
  • Manage risks, assumptions and constraints for requirements, and communicate to appropriate parties.
  • Work with tools and platforms such as Hadoop Hive, Dremio, AG-Grid; and be willing to learn new ones as needed.

Must-have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. Preferably Technology or Business
  • 3+ years Business Analysis experience in fast-paced environment
  • Expert knowledge of SQL and Excel for data analysis
  • Good financial product knowledge, particularly derivatives
  • Proven Data Analysis experience and project delivery in financial service industry
  • Experience in financial services and familiarity with Finance or Risk
  • Understanding and experience in software development life-cycle
  • Excellent communication skills are critical for this role
  • Able to quickly and effectively gather, synthesize and drive resolution of project tasks in a cross-functional team
  • Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Teamwork & Collaboration – Have principals, disagree if needed, and brainstorm.
  • Analytical and creative thinker
  • Ability to clearly articulate problems and solutions
  • Detailed oriented with strong problem solving skills
  • Expert time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
