Hours of Work: 8:30 – 4:30 Monday to Friday, Full-time
Temporary Summer Student Position
Details:Within the vision and mission statements of the Society, reporting to the Operations Manager, we are seeking a confident, skilled, and self-directed Event Planner to produce an event from conception through to completion. Event planner’s responsibilities include providing outstanding customer service and organizing a memorable event that meets quality expectations. Salary is $21 per hour.Key Responsibilities:
- Proven experience as an Events Planner or experience in project management with a track record of successful events
- Impressive portfolio of previously managed events (weddings, meetings, parties, corporate events) Willing to submit references from previous clients
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects independently under pressure
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Establishing relationships and liaising with event venue, vendors and stakeholders
- Working with a printer to send invitations to guests
- Identifying clients' requirements and expectations for the event
- Brainstorming and implementing event concepts and themes
- Coordinating all logistical elements of the event including Organizing suppliers, caterers, staff, and entertainment.
- Anticipating attendee needs and making preparations against potential risks
- Ability to lead a team and delegate tasks effectively
- Must be creative, have meticulous attention to detail and be flexible and adaptable
Qualifications:
- Certificate and experience in hospitality, public relations, management, or related field
- MS Office proficiency
- Analytical skills
- Event planning
This is an HRSDC Canada Summer Job, therefore applicants must also:
- is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*; and
- is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
