Main Responsibilites

Skandia Concrete, part of the Terus Construction Ltd. group, is seeking a Supporting Batchman for its Invermere operation. Terus Construction Ltd. is a leader in the construction industry in British Columbia and the Yukon.

Reporting to the Concrete Plant Foreman/Supervisor, you will be required to guide in all areas of the production and delivery of quality concrete.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all deliveries are on time and in spec.
  • Schedules all orders as such to maximize productivity and manpower while keeping overtime to a minimum.
  • Responsible for maintaining raw material inventory for ongoing orders.
  • Provides retail prices on phone as required.
  • Ensure all orders have payment secured or know of their current account status.
  • Maintain communication with drivers during placements to ensure proper scheduling and quality can be achieved.
  • Communicate with Supervisor, all safety infractions and any complaints as they arise.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Weekly Inspections to the concrete plant and maintenance as required.
  • Ensures that all running equipment is kept neat and tidy, and drum inspections are performed at regular intervals. All running equipment must be cleaned both inside and out.
  • Ensures that all delivery tickets, timecards, and other general paperwork are completed fully and accurately by all employees and handed in daily.
  • Takes accurate concrete orders and asks all the right questions in order to minimize any mistakes with the concrete order.
  • Must be able to operate Ready Mix Truck.
  • Equipment operation and concrete delivery

A successful candidate should have:
  • Pleasant telephone demeanor and excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of health & safety, environmental requirements and best practices
  • Computer Literate
  • Excellent communication skills (Oral and Written) and team player
  • Experience with Command batch computer system
  • Maintenance/Calibration of Precision Water System (2 probe system)
  • Aggregate moisture testing
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations and multitask
  • Commercial Driers License Class 3 (preference to Class 1)
Training/Education:
  • ACI field testing certificate
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 ticket

$30.00-$35.00/hr plus benefits starting (depending on experience)
