Maple Leaf Construction Ltd. is currently recruiting for a

SURVEYOR - HIGHWAYS DIVISION

Under the direction of the Survey Department Manager, the Surveyor is responsible for survey, design and machine control duties.

As a Surveyor your duties will include:

  • Highway Lay-out and staking
  • Topographic surveys
  • Road and Site Design
  • Quantity/As built measurements
  • Grading design and review
  • CAD based data prep
  • Using GPS and Total Station for Survey and Machine Control applications

Your experience includes:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience
  • Post-secondary education in Geomatics, Survey, or Municipal Technology, or similar

Requirements:

  • Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License and use of reliable transportation
  • Willing to work long hours (50-70 per week), primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Solid understanding and use of total stations, leveling instruments, GNSS equipment, laser alignment equipment and other surveying equipment
  • Working knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, standards and construction methods
  • Working knowledge of identifying and interpreting survey control monuments
  • Physically capable (i.e. lifting up to 30kg; placing stakes into the ground)
  • Able to work in all weather conditions and outdoor elements
  • Strong attention to detail including a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Comfortable using computers and excel spreadsheets and CAD software
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision and independently
  • Ability to multitask including managing e-mail and voicemail regularly
