Your Opportunity:

This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties, including, but not limited to: performing, recording and reporting diagnostic procedures in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures to ensure a high quality, accurate and timely result. Identifies unusual or abnormal findings and alerts the Senior Technologist/Clinical Biochemist. Performs and documents quality control and assurance programs. Operates, maintains and performs troubleshooting on a variety of laboratory instruments to ensure optimal function. Assists with maintaining department supply inventory and re-orders as required. May participate in the validation and assessment of procedures and equipment under the direction of the senior technologist, supervisor or manager. May participate in training and orientation of staff and students. Responds appropriately to non-conforming events and unusual situations and able to identify complex issues to the Senior Technologist. This position includes a Night Shift Rotation.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

As required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Chemistry related experience within the last 2 years preferred. Experience in a fast-paced acute care setting. Experience operating Roche Cobas chemistry/immunoassay analyzers with middleware, gas chromatography, operating blood gas analyzers and performing macroscopic and microscopic urinalysis.
